Future Capital
Future Capital provides investment education that enables women to lead and shape the future of the economy.
Project Overview
The Problem
Only 13.5 percent of partners at Canadian venture funds are women, with only 8.9 percent being managing partners.
Led by Future Capital in partnership with Female Funders, Microsoft Vancouver and Simon Fraser University (SFU), the project equips female corporate leaders with the skills to drive growth beyond their core business and evaluate new innovations and technologies in their industry.
How We Are Solving It
The Result
Future Capital is a capacity partnership that saw over 500 Canadian women complete leadership training through an online program suite and educational network provided by Future Capital. This training used angel investment as a method for talent development, supporting women in investing, advising, and mentoring emerging SMEs in the digital technology space. In addition to supporting individual women participants, this project had associated ecosystem benefits by catalyzing nearly $600,000 in investments into early-stage technology companies in Canada.
