AI Skills Lab Canada

Supporting women and non-binary founders and entrepreneurs to adopt AI.

Project Overview

Updated June 5, 2025

The Problem

Only 4% of Canadian businesses are using artificial intelligence (AI), with less than 1% of women-owned SMEs adopting AI-driven technologies.1 Globally, women in knowledge-intensive roles are up to 25% less likely to utilize AI2, creating a new and emerging disadvantage for women and non-binary entrepreneurs seeking to start or scale businesses.

How We Are Solving It

Led by The Forum in collaboration with Growclass and Camp Tech, this project aims to deliver a 12-month pilot of AI Skills Lab Canada: a program that will support 250 women and non-binary founders and entrepreneurs across Canada to adopt AI technologies into their companies.

The women-led, women-focused program will target participants from start-ups, small businesses and SMEs across Canada, particularly in the Prairies, Atlantic, Northern Ontario and the Territories. Training will focus on equipping participants with the skills, strategies, mentorship and implementation support needed to adopt AI technologies that address operational challenges and stimulate revenue growth for their companies.
