Judy Intelligence: An AI-Driven Platform for Rural Communities
Bridging Atlantic Canada’s workforce gaps by unlocking rural potential.
Project Overview
Updated June 5, 2025.
The Problem
Across Atlantic Canada, rural communities are at a crossroads. From health care to skilled trades to agriculture, essential sectors are facing critical labour shortages. These gaps reduce the quality and accessibility of services, constrain business growth, and stall economic growth for these communities.
How We Are Solving It
Led by Judy Intelligence in collaboration with B-Side Group, Ignite Atlantic and Middleton Group; this project aims to develop a fully AI-powered workforce development platform that helps rural employers and communities find, attract and retain talent.
The proposed platform, named Judy Intelligence, will assist businesses in rural communities in identifying qualified candidates and showcasing relevant job opportunities. The platform will also leverage labour market trends, employer needs and candidate profiles to create optimal matches, as well as personalized recommendations and real-time advice to job seekers on creating effective resumes and cover letters.
To enhance retention, Judy will also provide new Canadians with tailored information about their potential community including housing options, local amenities, schools and professional networks. This will include an augmented reality feature that allows candidates to virtually explore job sites and the local lifestyle before relocating.
The solution will be initially tailored to the unique challenges of rural communities in Atlantic Canada, with early implementation focused on Nova Scotia’s Pictou and Southwest Nova regions. Leveraging a scalable and agile model, Judy aims to create a sustainable pathway for long-term revitalization in similar communities across Canada and globally.
